About Spectra Scientific
Spectra Scientific was founded in Massachusetts by former field technicians and engineers with a mission to innovate and invigorate the environmental monitoring industry. They aimed to create durable, high-quality products that would outlast their creators, addressing frustrations with outdated and impractical equipment.
The first Spectra Field Pro was manufactured in Reading, Massachusetts. This peristaltic pump, featuring a built-in battery and charger, quickly became a favorite among consulting firms. Over the years, it evolved through three iterations, culminating in the award-winning Field Pro III in 2020, now used globally for environmental monitoring and laboratory analysis.
Spectra's rental division was launched to offer high-quality equipment rental services with expert technical support. Unlike traditional equipment warehouses, Spectra worked closely with clients to develop solutions tailored to industry needs, reinforcing their commitment to innovation and education.
In response to client dissatisfaction with existing bladder pump technology, Spectra developed the Hydro Pro Bladder Pump Controller/Compressor. Released in 2018, it featured a 150 PSI full duty cycle compressor and digital readout, streamlining groundwater sampling operations.
Spectra released the Bladder Pump Sil 2.0 and Sil 1.0, addressing the inefficiencies of previous bladder pump designs. These innovative, easy-to-use solutions revolutionized the groundwater sampling industry by improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
As the PFAS contamination issue gained national attention, the US Department of Defense tested hundreds of products. Spectra’s Silicone Bladder Pump was the only pump to register as Non-Detect (ND) for all 34 PFAS analytes, earning it industry-wide recognition.
Building on their expertise, Spectra expanded into the Water Quality Market, developing advanced Water Quality Sondes designed to provide superior data collection for professionals in the field.
